10/11: Lunch time orders.... Me: "Dallin, would you like tuna fish or peanut butter and jelly for lunch? Dallin: "Ummm...can I have a Jelly Fish sandwich?
2/11: Lately, when it's time to go somewhere and Dallin gets tired of waiting for me he says: "Come on Mom, Wets wight dis candoe!" Translation: "Let's light this candle!"
1/11: Quote of they day..... Me: "Dallin don't open that umbrella inside the house, please!" Dallin: "It's ok Mom, I'm pretending it's raining in here!"
12/10: We were driving in the car today and Dallin started singing: "Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way.........given this land if they live RIGHTOUSLY!"
6/10: Emily was putting on a wedding with her barbies today and I overheard her say: "Do you take this woman to be your 'awful' wife?" "I Do." "Then you may kiss the bride!"
3/10: Dallin has made a habit of starting all his sentences with the phrase "I guess...". (Examples: "I guess I'm hungry, I guess I'm playin' football, I guess I'm tired.) Earlier today I heard him crying in the other room and so I went to investigate. "Dallin, what's wrong?" I said. He replied, "I guess I'm crying!"
10/09: Emily still has a habit of making up words when she doesn't quite know what to call something. Today she came up to me after dressing her self in a turtle neck and said, "Mom will you fold down my 'fuzzy cozy'? " Translation: "Mom will fold down my 'collar'?"
8/09: Recently whenever I do something Emily doesn't like she yells, "Fine! You're not my best mom ever!" (Darn, and I was really hoping for the "Mother of the year" award this year :)
7/09: Dallin loves to get into the pantry and empty any box or can he gets a hold of onto the floor. Today he decided to dump a whole bottle of popcorn popping oil on my brand new carpet!!!!!!!! (Any good ideas how to get oil out of carpet?)
4/09: We are nothing if not polite. (At least Emmy thinks so.) Here is another story about Emily. She threw up a few nights ago and as Joe rushed to her aid she ended up throwing up all over his nice shoes. Joe reacted by sarcastically saying, "Oh! Thanks Emily." Between heaves she replied, "Your welcome."
2/09: I had an interesting conversation with Emmy this morning.
Emily: "Mom I want to watch a movie." Me: "Not right now. Maybe later." Emily: "But Mom! I really really want to watch a movie!" Me: "Not right now honey."
Emily left sulking. Then she came back a few seconds later with a very determined look on her face.
Emily: "Mom I really need to watch this movie." "Trust me on this."
Oh that girl makes me laugh. I gotta admit her arguments get better every time.
1/09: If there is one thing Emily is good at it's being a little comedian. Last night she was being a little rough with her brother and when her dad tried to reprimand her for it, this is what happened: Joe: "Emily, don't hit Dallin! That's not nice!" Emily: (with out hesitation turned around, looked her dad square in the eye and replied,) "You wanna piece of me!" Everyone just fell on the floor laughing after that one. =)
11/08: This morning after Joe left for work Emily asked me, "Mom...where did Daddy go?" "He went to work." I said. Then Emily said, "When I grow up and I'm a daddy, I will go to work too."
9/08: Emily came up to me this morning and said,"Mom you are my best friend." What a sweetie!
9/08: Recently Emily has decided that anytime she gets an "owie" she has to have a bandaid. The other day I just had to laugh when she was complaining of a stomach ache and asked me to put a bandaid on her tummy. Then, today she got into my lotion and rubbed some in her eye. She came to me crying and said, "Mommy the lotion hurt my eye. I need a bandaid on my eye."
7/08: Earlier today Dallin was being a little fussy. Usually Emily is pretty indifferent to Dallin's crying but this time I guess it was getting on her nerves because she went over to him and said, "Dude! Quit screaming and crying!" (she is such a character:)
7/08: I overheard a conversation between Becky and Julianne during lunch today that made me laugh. Julianne: "Becky, what kind of food do you like?" Becky: "I like english food. Sometimes I like spanish and chinese food too."
7/08: Today we were at the mall, and as we were walking by the shoe store Julianne asked me, "Mom, will you buy me some rubber crotches?" I stopped dead in my tracks and asked, "What did you say!?" Realizing that she had said something wrong - but not sure what - Julianne timidly asked again- pointing to the crocks that were in the shoe store window- "Can I have a pair of rubber crotches?" "Oh!" I said "You mean crocks?" "Yeah." she said. (a little pink in the face:) "Not today." I said "And by the way you probably shouldn't say the word crotch, it's not a very nice word." "What does it mean?" Julianne asked "Ask your dad." I said:)
5/08: I was cleaning Emily's room and she came in to see what I was doing. The conversation went something like: Emily:"You cweening my yoom mommy?" Me: "Yep." Emily: "I'm so pwoud ouf you mommy!"
4/08: Emily has mixed up the phrases, "How come?" and "Why not?" So lately when I ask her to do certain things she replies, "Why come?"
4/08: The other night I was singing Emily a lullaby before bed and just as I finished she lifted her head off my shoulder and said, "Good job mommy."
4/08:Lately when I change Emily's Diaper she thinks it's really funny to get up and run away so I have to chase her. Well, the first time it was funny but the 50th time not so much. Well the other day we were having one of these battles and I said to Emily in a very stern voice, "Emily do you want to get in trouble!?" and without hesitation she replied, "Yep! I want a spankin'!" I couldn't help but burst out laughing. I know that probably wasn't the best way to deal with the situation but I ask all of you experienced parents out there - How would you react?
